This summer in Atlanta, GA, July 18-20, serious flamenco enthusiasts across the USA will have the chance to take part in the first ever presentation of “A Little Piece of Spain”, an intensive flamenco learning program brought to you by Spain’s Arte y Pureza Flamenco Company.

Participants will have the chance to take as many as four hours of class per day as well as receiving exclusive passes to the private Fiesta given by the artists SOLELY for program participants.

AL BAILE:  Saray Montoya (Granddaughter of El Farruco)
AL BAILE:  Cihtli Ocampo (Arte y Pureza)
AL CANTE Y BAILE:  Javier Heredia (Acclaimed Festero)
AL CANTE: Jorge ‘El Canastero’ (Acclaimed Singer)
Al TOQUE
: Ethan ‘El Liti’ Margolis (Arte y Pureza)

A Little Piece Of Spain's Teachers:


TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:
Classes Fri-Sun, July 18-20th

FRIDAY
6-7pm Dance class: Technique with Cihtli Ocampo
7-8pm Dance class: Choreography with Saray
8-9pm Dance class: Bulerias with Javier Heredia
9-10pm Cante class:  Cante with Jorge El Canastero

SATURDAY and SUNDAY
1-2pm Dance class: Technique with Cihtli Ocampo
2-3pm Dance class: Choreography with Saray
4-5pm Dance class: Bulerias with Javier Heredia
5-6pm Cante class:  Cante with Jorge El Canastero
***All classes will include cante and guitar during the second half of the class.

Private Fiesta (closed to public)
Sat.  July 19     9-11 pm

***Guitarists are encouraged to accompany all three dance classes and the cante class.  All participants including those paying to audit are encouraged to attend all program classes.

PROGRAM FEES:
Dancers $300 ($350 if paid after 5/10/08)
Guitarists $150 ($200 if paid after 5/10/08)
Singers/Audits $100 ($150 after     5/10/08)   

Includes entrance to all classes given during the program and exclusive entrance to the Private Fiesta . One additional guest pass may be purchased by program participants for a fee of $50.

***Program participants are responsible for their own food, lodging, and transportation.

Due to the nature of live performance, program artists are subject to change without notice.  In the event of an artist cancellation due to injury or inability to travel, the artist will be replaced by another professional artist of equal stature in his or her field.

We reserve the right to cancel the program in its entirety on or before the date of June 15, 2007 due to low registration.  In case of cancellation, refunds will be issued by way of check within the following 30 days.

What does the word "Flamenco" mean? There are several theories of what the word "Flamenco" actually means, all of which are pretty speculative. One popular theory says that the word originated from Arabic 'felag mengu' or 'fellah mengu', which means 'peasants without land'.
